Member of the Board of Directors
As a member of our Board of Directors, your responsibilities will
include operations and fundraising for the organization. Currently,
the Foundation is seeking nominations for individuals with finance
and legal backgrounds. The board meets 10 times a year, for 2 hours
each.
Corporate Golf Committee
Since 1987, the Corporate Golf Tournament has been the signature event
of the Hope for Children Foundation. It takes place in late May or
early June each year. It attracts business professionals who wish
to support services provided to high-risk children and youth. The
committee meets regularly, beginning 6 months before the scheduled
golf event. Your role as a committee member will include selecting
the venue, date, signing up foursomes, securing items for the silent
auction, and naturally, playing golf! The time commitment varies:
3 hours/month for pre-tournament meetings; followed by 9-10 hours
on the golf day.
Adopt-a-Family Workplace Coordinator
In this position, you will organize employee groups who are contributing
towards Christmas baskets for families in need. The CCAS Branch will
provide family particulars and a wish list towards which employees
can contribute. You will be required to liaise with the Hope for Children
Foundation and the local CCAS Branch. The time commitment is 5-8 hours,
primarily during the month of November.
Communications Advisory Committee
As a member of this committee, your mandate will be to work on a two-year
plan to develop tools and resources for different audiences, train
volunteers, and set a dissemination plan to build awareness about
our programs and services in the community. The Foundation plans to
recruit 4-5 new members to join the committee and develop the theme
for the awareness-building campaign.
Special Event Committees
- Scholarship Awards: Takes place the last Wednesday
of August each year. You will help with venue selection, food, decoration,
set-up, greeters, and soliciting corporate sponsorships.
- Walk/Run with Scotiabank Toronto
Waterfront Marathon: You will help recruit corporate teams and
solicit corporate sponsorships. You may also walk or run and fundraise
through pledges, volunteer the day of the event as a marshal, photographer,
group leader, etc.
